Early Ages
Since early 20th century, steel making was a dream in Iran.
The first attempt to construct a melt shop near Tehran with German
technology failed due to 2nd World War.
With the Russians blast furnace technology, the first plant was
commissioned in Esfahan in mid 70th. This encouraged Europeans to enter
Iran steel market.

At this time, the
brilliant idea pursued by a number of university professors was to
collect the knowledge and technology of steel making by local engineers.
Yet that first idea would set the tone for
what IRITEC was to become.
The professors organized a company from local industry and banking
authorities, and Italian technology provider "Italimpiani";
IRITEC was then born!
The professors inspired the enthusiastic young graduates to join IRITEC
at its small office. The first 23 engineers were assigned to Italy to
learn the basics of steel making and started their work in 1975.
From the first project to design the site facilities at ex-Bandar Abbas
Steel Complex, there was a long and challenging way to reach the current
position by IRITEC. From the start, those basic principles of innovation
and commitment to the client were at the heart of IRITEC. We wanted to
offer solutions from all of the engineering disciplines .
Middle Ages
It was a
downturn in economy after the revolution in 1979. International
companies had left the country, and steel projects were stopped.
IRITEC had to
find a way to survive, so it should cope with the changing work
environment. We approached every project – no matter what the size
or the industry – as an opportunity. Two supervision projects on gas
pipeline and a contract with copper industry rescued IRITEC.
In 1981, the
shipped equipment of Bandar Abbas Steel Complex was decided to be
re-dispatched to Mobarakeh in Esfahan for building a steel mill over
there. There was a significant need to an engineering company to
deal with issues of this transfer. IRITEC was selected as the main
engineering supervisory firm for the construction of Mobarakeh Steel
Complex.
During the 80's,
IRITEC consolidated its position in steel industry as the largest
local engineering consulting company.

In mid 90's,
because of low oil prices, Mobarakeh Steel Complex, now operating,
was looking for local contractors and awarded IRITEC the first
turn-key project: engineering, procurement, and construction of 4
ladle furnaces, and changing from tilting to eccentric bottom
tapping.
It was our chance to listen to our clients, understand what they
needed, seek a cost-effective solution and then follow through with
quality work. It was our chance to begin building relationships.
Due to
diversifying our services, IRITEC was re-structured to a contracting
company. Then, an efficient supply department was formed.IRASCO,
now an essential part of the IRITEC Companies, was created in that
time.
By getting Direct Reduction License from Kobe Steel of Japan (Midrex
Method), IRITEC evolved to one of 5
companies over the world to design and construct DR plants.
Our EP and EPC
projects in steel industry enabled us to evolve to a General
Contracting Company and to approach different areas with less or no
experience: the mine industry, and the more potential field of oil
and gas.
The first
mechanized coal extracting project in Tabas was awarded to IRITEC.
After two
decades, the dream of gas gathering of oil production units in Ahwaz
area was fulfilled.
Constructing the IRITEC group of companies was the requirement of
approaching mega-projects. "BIDEC", our multi-disciplinary
engineering company, and "IRASCO", our international supply and
financing firm, together with a handful of specialized companies are
among our close partners.
Today
Now, our clients
deserve the best IRITEC group of companies can offer. We are proud
to be employee owned and operated. We look at the faces of our
employees and our clients, we look at the relationships we have
built and worked to earn over the years, and we know that IRITEC
is where it should be today. And what means even more to us is
that the companies we worked with in those early years are still our
clients now.
From the
beginning, IRITEC has been built on basic principles. We believe
IRITEC family. It is our employee's image and creativity that make
the difference in the end. We believe that the right people make it
the right job. We believe that our clients and the trust they put
in us are as important as our ability to get the job done.
And we know that
everyone we work with on every job, no matter what the size, is the
foundation of our company.
Future
As we look to the future, we see a bigger dream. IRITEC seeks to
expand in the region and into the international market. We seek to
achieve the success we’ve reached Iran and to do it, we need to keep
doing what we believe in – here and throughout the world. So that
when we look back, we know that we have offered our best. |
